History of D’Escousse

D’Escousse is a small community on the North side of historic Isle Madame. Situated on the South East of Cape Breton. Isle Madame is home to great people: predominantly from Acadian ancestry, there are also Irish, and other heritage cultures in this corner of the world.

Cape Breton is an Island in Nova Scotia, Canada that is famed for it’s rich heritage of Celtic music, abundant riches of great fish and seafood, and warm friendly environment. Visitors are always welcomed with a smile.

The community hall in D’Escousse is the largest in the area. It was built in 1989 and is run by the D’Escousse Civic Improvement Society (DCIS). It is a non-for-profit organisation run by enthusiastic volunteers. It is run by the community and for the community.
